I had the absolute pleasure of working with Paula on the North West photoshoot, Paula took my ideas and turned them into a stunning floral reality, I cannot thank her enough for her help on the day!! Ive asked each supplier involved to answer a few key questions, to explain more about their fantastic companies.
What does your company do?
Orchard Designs provide a florist and venue dressing service
Unique/different selling point
We pride ourselves in attention to detail. All my little helpers who set up each wedding with me are a fussy as I am! We have been known to get the hoover out at a venue and change cutlery if it’s not clean!
Reason for starting your company
I have always been a creative person! My Mum says I would sit for hours when I was little creating something out of a cardboard box and a roll of sellotape! It was my Mums idea I became a florist when I left school. After 16 years working in as a florist in the retail and wholesale side of the business, I bought a florist shop, which I ran for 9 years. By the end of the 9 years the wedding side of the business was coming into it’s own with the venue dressing service becoming more and more popular with couples and with my perfectionist streak, this was taking up more and more of my time. So I sold the shop and set up Orchard Designs to concentrate fully on wedding and events. This now gives me the opportunity to be creative with not only the flowers, but every little detail involved in creating the whole effect, which I love!
Services to couples getting married
We will work closely with each couple to create the style of wedding they are looking for. We can provide everything from the bridal flowers to the napkin bows but we are just a happy to provide a single item from our services.
Most popular product/package
I wouldn’t say we have any individual product that was more popular than another, as each couple has there own individual requirements but last year our Bronze Package was very popular
What tip would you give couples starting the planning process?
It’s your wedding! Plan your wedding to suit your own style and personality; don’t let other peoples comments put you off. If you want a girly pink wedding, have it! If you want black, have it! It’s your day and no one else’s.
Do you prefer working with suppliers from your area?
We are happy to work with any suppliers
How has the current market conditions affected your company and pricing?
We always try to keep our prices competitive. As already mentioned, last year our Bronze Package was very popular. The packages were booked in 2009 for 2010 and I think it was because the total price was there to see with all the details of what came with the package. The packages we offer can be altered to suit the individual couples requirements. If a couple provides us with a budget, we will always find ways of keeping to the budget without losing the desired effect the couple are trying to create for their wedding
Anything else to add?
We know how difficult it is sometimes to picture how your table setting will look on the day. If the reception venue are happy for us to do so, we will set up a table exactly as it will look on the day and play around with different ideas until the couple are happy with the overall effect
